Roxie is funny

OK. I have left you to gaze upon those slimy and slithery bodies long enough. I keep getting complaints about those grossies. I even had a message on my phone this morning asking me to please post again so that there wouldn't be scary things right at the top of my page. This from the girl who posted - I kid you not - pictures of her daughter's tonsils in a cup. I admit, a very dark side of me wanted to post something even scarier, but I don't much that's scarier than tonsils and snakes. Except sharks, but I know most people don't share my irrational phobia. So, on to lighter, less discusting note...

Roxie (with some lunch on her face) decided it would be funny to put her pull-ups on her head. I agree. It is funny.

The other day we were in the car and the car in front of us had a sticker in the window that said "Iron Mutt Coffee." Doug started laughing and said, "What the heck? What kind of name is that?" Then, to be funny, he said, "Yeah, I drink Metal Dog." Get it? Iron Mutt. Metal Dog. (Doug's sense of humor.) So, Roxie starts saying, "I drink Metal Dog!" She has been saying it for a week. If you ask her what she drinks, she will say, "I drink Metal Dog!"

Roxie decided to show off her skills with Christian's boxing gloves. How cute is she?

I have been having terrible anxiety lately and one morning I was really struggling. I started crying. Rox came in my room and when she saw me crying, she climbed up onto my bed and into my lap, wiped my tears and said, "Mom, you're drooling."

New Neighbors

Last summer, we discovered some neighbors living in our window well. I freaked out. Doug relocated them. The end, right? Oh, no, not the end. Apparently there were some eggs. So, we have neighbors in our window well again.
I might throw up.
The end.

Piano recital

Here they are in all their cuteness.
Ashton wanted her hair all fancy, so I have included close-ups.
Plus, when the recital was over Roxie jumped up and promptly ran into something. Sad baby. In order to cheer her up, Doug sat down and played Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam. It worked like a charm, as usual.

If You Give a Two-Year-Old a Marker

If you give a two year old a marker, she might get bored with coloring paper. If she gets bored coloring paper, she might color something else...
I don't recommend giving a two year old a marker.
The end.

Happy things

This has been a happy week so far. (Knock on wood...)

The weather has been so lovely that we can't keep ourselves inside. So, even school happens outside. Christian asked if other kids get to have school outside. I told him that recess is just about it for them. He felt very sorry for all the kids cooped up in classrooms on such heavenly days.
My kids went all out in their green-ness for St. Patrick's Day. They were determined to not get pinched. (They don't go to school, so who would have pinched them? I don't think they thought that far ahead.) They are cute, though, huh?
And, plus, after nearly three months of no kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu, we are back! I am excited for the kids, but mostly (perhaps a bit selfishly) I am excited for me. I love kickboxing more than I can even say and I thought I would have to give it up forever. But, because of a twist of fate, we get to return! I consider it a blessing. Yesterday was my first day back. I was so happy that I cried in the car on the way home. Then, I had permagrin for the rest of the day. Plus, how happy are pink gloves?

Boring

I haven't posted in a while for two reasons:
1. There is nothing to say. I'm boring.
2. What can top the commentary from the dog expert?

Here's how boring we are:

Must be some stimulating dinner conversation, eh?

Warning: If you continue reading, you may have the same reaction!

I have been busy, busy, busy, homsechooling; working on my family herbalist course; sending out emails to the ward members reminding them of weekly events and working on the ward newsletter (which should have been done Sunday - oh well); reading; planning on doing the taxes, never actually getting to it, but stressing plenty about it; cleaning the house, but never getting it clean; etc, etc, etc...

We finally finished our homeschool unit on pirates. There were too many good pirate books, so we did it for way too long. We learned a lot about geography, history, a little about mythology, and had some great talks about faith and the fight between good and evil.

Today we will start a unit on gardens. We are determined to have a garden this year. Yea! So, we will make it part of our school and learn about seeds, plants, and so on. We will use heirloom seeds, so that we can learn how to preserve the seeds and use them later. They will be part of our food storage. We will do science experiments and read Little Britches by Ralph Moody, one of my favorites. I'm excited. Doug even committed to help!

So, although boring doesn't make for good blog posts, I'll take it over the not boring stuff I dealt with during this winter. Bring on the boring - and the spring!
